“Regrets and Second Chances” examines the issue of modern-day homelessness and how difficult it is for people to get off the street. James (Nathan Reedy) meets a young homeless woman, Anna (Ashley Escoto) in Downtown Sacramento. In an attempt to atone for a past mistake, James works to help Anna get back on her feet. Anna, however, is suspicious of his motives.

This film took third place in the 2022 A Place Called Sacramento Film Festival. Nathan Reedy was nominated for best lead actor. Ashley Escoto was nominated for best lead actress. Sean McAleer was nominated for best editor and best cinematographer. I was nominated for best original screenplay and best director. This film also tied for third in the 2022 Davis International Film Festival.

For the last two years, South of Certainty has been the outlet for my over-thinking about various topics. From mental health to memoir, to pop-culture and current events, to humor and discussing the aspects of my disability, this blog has earned me Top Writer status in five categories on Medium. I was also made a member of their Creative Fellowship Project in 2021. However, the best part has been writing stories that connect with people. Whatever you’re interested in, I hope you find something here you can relate to.

Sometimes as an author, I write stories I really like and am proud of, but have a difficult time getting published. Often, this is the result of my stories not suiting editors’ tastes or fitting what publications are looking for. And that’s ok. Writing is a subjective artform, and not everyone is going to like everything I write. However, since I like these stories and loved writing them, I refuse to let them languish on my hard drive.

Get off the bench and get warmed up. The B Team is going in.
